3D/4D Scans
3D & 4D baby scans are advanced ultrasound techniques used during pregnancy to create 3 dimensions and 4 dimensional pictures and videos of the baby inside mother. They provide more realistic and real time images of the features of the baby.
Why 3D & 4D scans are performed ?
These scans are non-diagnostic ultrasound scans and used to see the facial and body features of the baby. They are used for creating keepsakes, bonding with baby and enjoying a more detailed view of the fetus.

When is the best time to have a 3D or 4D scan?
We offer 3D/4D scan between 25 and 35 weeks, but the ideal time is between 28 and 30 weeks. At this stage, your baby’s features are more defined, and the amniotic fluid levels are sufficient. Clear images rely on amniotic fluid levels, your baby’s position, and maternal habitus.Â
Is a 3D or 4D scan safe for my baby?
Yes, 3D/4D scans are safe. These scans use the same ultrasound technology as regular 2D scans, which have been widely used in prenatal care for many years. There is no evidence to suggest that these scans pose any risk to the mother or baby when performed by a trained professional. Nevertheless, ensuring fetal safety is our priority, we minimize fetal exposure times and use the least amount of power necessary to capture diagnostic in accordance with the ALARA principle.Â
What is the difference between a 3D and a 4D scan?
3D scan provides a static, three-dimensional image of your baby. A 4D scan builds on the 3D technology by adding the element of time, creating a live video effect. This means that you can see the baby moving in real-time, capturing moments such as yawning, stretching, or even smiling.
Can a 3D or 4D scan determine the baby's gender?
Yes, it is possible to see gender on a 3D/4D scan as long as the baby is in a good position. However, for gender determination, a standard 2D ultrasound scan is sufficient to determine the gender accurately.Â
What should I expect during a 3D or 4D scan?
A 3D or 4D scan typically lasts about 20-30 minutes, allowing you to see realistic, real-time images and movements of your baby on the screen. At the end, you can choose two 3D images to print on glossy paper as keepsakes.
