Renal Scan Dublin €170.00

Renal Ultrasound Scan - Will include prostate for male

Renal Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive procedure used to visualize the kidneys and bladder. Kidneys are a unique filtration system within your body, responsible for eliminating waste products from the blood and generating urine.

They regulate the levels of various substances in the bloodstream and contribute to the management of blood pressure.

Renal ultrasound scans may be recommended for various individuals depending on their symptoms, medical history, or risk factors. Here are some common reasons why someone might need a renal ultrasound

  1. Kidney Stones: Individuals experiencing symptoms such as severe pain in the back, side, or lower abdomen may need a renal ultrasound to check for the presence of kidney stones.
  2. Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Recurrent UTIs or persistent symptoms may require further evaluation with a renal ultrasound to check for any abnormalities in the kidneys or urinary tract.
  3. Blood in the Urine (Hematuria): If a person has blood in their urine, known as hematuria, a renal ultrasound can help identify the source of bleeding, such as kidney or bladder issues.
  4. Kidney Function Monitoring: Patients with known kidney conditions or those undergoing treatment for kidney disease may require periodic renal ultrasound scans to monitor kidney function and assess for any changes over time.
  5. High Blood Pressure (Hypertension): Hypertension can sometimes lead to kidney damage. Renal ultrasound may be used to assess kidney health in individuals with high blood pressure.
  6. Abnormal Kidney Function Tests: Abnormal results from blood or urine tests that indicate potential kidney problems may prompt a renal ultrasound to further investigate the cause.
  7. Abdominal or Pelvic Pain: Individuals experiencing unexplained abdominal or pelvic pain may undergo a renal ultrasound to rule out kidney-related causes.
  8. Monitoring Pregnancy: Pregnant women may have renal ultrasound scans as part of routine prenatal care to evaluate kidney health and monitor for conditions such as hydronephrosis (swelling of the kidneys).
