A lipid panel is a blood test that measures fats and cholesterol levels in your blood.

To check if you are suffering from another condition that could derange lipid levels such as pancreatitis.
To monitor your lipid levels if you have inherited high cholesterol condition (familial hypercholesterolaemia). To check the response of cholesterol-lowering medications. A part of general checkup after age 40.
How to prepare for the blood test appointment?
You can ideally have this test done in the morning after fasting overnight or for 8-12 hours.
- Drink plenty of water 24 hours before your appointment. This will make the blood drawing process easier.
- Avoid alcohol 1-2 days before the test.
- Avoid strenuous exercise before the test.
- Wear loose and comfortable clothing to allow easy access to both arms and hands

It generally takes 2- 3 business days to process and release your test results. However, processing times may vary.Â
