A soft tissue ultrasound is a diagnostic ultrasound procedure used to image and evaluate soft tissues of the body. Soft tissues include skin , muscles, tendons , fat, ligaments and other parts of the body which are not composed of bones.

Why Soft tissue Ultrasound is advised?
The main purpose of soft tissue ultrasound is to image and evaluate the structure, size, volume , and blood flow within the soft tissues of the body.Â
Soft tissue ultrasound is advised in following conditions:
- Muscle pains and inflammation: Soft tissue ultrasound can help in evaluation of muscle pain and factors that cause them such as muscle tears, tendonitis and ligament injuries.
- Abdomen wall diseases : It is used to assess abdomen wall injuries, hernias, collections and other pathologies of abdomen wall soft tissues.
- Skin collections and swellings: Localized skin collections and abscess are diagnosed by soft tissue ultrasound.

Preparation:
No specific preparation is required for soft tissues ultrasound.
After a thorough examination of the ultrasound images by our Consultant Radiologist, expect the report to reach your GP within 2 working days from the date of your scan.
