Urinary tract infection (UTI): is identified by finding a micro-organism in a midstream
urine sample accompanied by clinical symptoms. UTI occurs when a micro-organism
travels from the urethra to the bladder or kidneys.
Symptoms of urinary tract infection (UTI):

- Urinary urgency
- Burning sensation when with urinating
- Lower abdominal pain
- Cloudy or foul-smelling urine

This panel identifies common UTI pathogens and resistance genes, allowing for
rapid and targeted antibiotic treatment therefore, improving treatment times and
reducing the need for broad-spectrum antibiotics.
Early detection of a multiplex UTI can help prevent additional harm to the renal
system, including kidneys and bladder.
This test detects 23 bacterial, 1 fungal and 8 resistance markers from one urine
sample.
How to prepare for the appointment?
Fasting is not required. You are advisable to drink plenty of water one hour before
the test. It is important to note that if you have already begun antibiotic treatment for
a UTI or other urinary condition, it is advisable to wait until the antibiotics are finished
before conducting this urine test.
